Itinerary
DAY 1 — Arrival, River Journey & First Jungle Explorations
Depart Iquitos at 8:00 AM, travelling by river toward a small, remote community accessible only by boat. As you move deeper into the Amazon, there are opportunities to spot pink and grey river dolphins in sections of the river known for frequent sightings.
Around midday, arrive at a rustic jungle refuge — simple, functional, and well-suited for an off-grid experience. After lunch, begin exploring the surrounding rainforest on foot and by water, navigating remote channels and forest paths.
The afternoon focuses on wildlife observation and basic jungle awareness, with chances to spot sloths, monkeys, capybaras, hoatzins, parrots, toucans, and river birds. Your guide introduces techniques for silent movement, orientation, and reading fresh animal tracks.
After dark, head out on a night expedition to search for caimans, boas, anacondas, night monkeys, owls, frogs, and other nocturnal species. Dinner and overnight stay at the refuge.
DAY 2 — Deep Jungle Survival & Tracking
After breakfast, leave the refuge behind and enter deep rainforest areas where there are no trails, signs, or markers of civilisation. This is a full immersion into untouched jungle.
Throughout the day, you’ll learn essential survival techniques, including locating natural drinking water, identifying edible and medicinal plants, constructing simple shelters, using natural vines and fibres, navigating by forest signs, and understanding animal behaviour.
This region offers outstanding wildlife opportunities, with frequent sightings of capybaras, caimans, boas, anacondas, sloths, multiple monkey species, river birds, frogs, insects, and reptiles.
As night falls, navigate through a lagoon system in search of nocturnal predators and wildlife. Dinner and camping in the heart of the rainforest, surrounded by the sounds of the jungle.
DAY 3 — Giant Trees, Traditional Fishing & Return
Begin the day with early wildlife observation as the forest wakes and activity increases around the camp.
Later in the morning, explore ancient giant trees and continue searching for monkeys and birdlife. An optional Tarzan vine swing offers a moment of play in an otherwise demanding environment.
Before returning, take part in traditional fishing using ancestral techniques to catch piranhas and catfish. If conditions allow, the catch may be prepared as a fresh Amazon-style ceviche.
After lunch, begin the journey back to Iquitos by river, arriving in the afternoon.
End of expedition.
