A small-group, low-impact Amazon experience focused on wildlife, learning, and genuine time in the rainforest.

Explore the Birthplace of the Amazon, Encounter Pink Dolphins, and Experience the Jungle Day and Night

A compact but deeply immersive introduction to the Peruvian Amazon, designed for travellers who want a genuine rainforest experience without rushing or excess. Over three days, you’ll journey to the birthplace of the Amazon River, encounter pink and gray river dolphins in their natural habitat, walk beneath towering rainforest trees, and explore the jungle at night when a completely different side of the forest emerges.

Thoughtfully paced and intentionally low-impact, this small-group tour focuses on learning, observation, and real connection rather than staged experiences. Itinerary

DAY 1 — Journey to the Amazon’s Origin, Dolphin Encounter & Night Walk

Pick-up from Iquitos (by prior arrangement) and a scenic 2-hour transfer to Nauta. From there, we board a comfortable, roofed boat and navigate toward the Yarapa basin.

En route, we stop at the majestic confluence where the Marañón and Ucayali rivers meet to form the Amazon — a truly iconic photo moment and an ideal place to learn about this unique ecosystem.

We continue to the eco-lodge, arriving around 1:00–2:00 PM for lunch and a short rest.

Afternoon (≈ 3:00 PM) — Pink & Gray Dolphin Watching + Optional Swim
In the calm afternoon waters, the dolphins are especially active. Expect close encounters with curious pink river dolphins and playful gray dolphins — jumps, synchronized swims, and surface displays are common.

Your guide will explain dolphin behavior and local folklore. Afterward, in a safe, supervised area, you may choose to swim in the Amazon River — a freeing, unforgettable experience.

Night — Jungle Night Walk
After dinner, we head out on a guided night walk. The forest at night reveals tarantulas, frogs, small snakes, and a chorus of insects — a sensory, intimate way to experience the jungle.

DAY 2 — Rainforest Immersion: Birds, Plants & Night Canoe Ride

Rise before dawn for birdwatching as the rainforest begins to stir. In the cool morning air, birdlife is at its most active, offering opportunities to spot and listen to a wide range of species as the forest slowly comes alive. Your guide will help identify calls and movements while explaining how birds fit into the wider ecosystem.

After breakfast, we set out on a guided botanical walk through primary rainforest. Along the way, you’ll learn about medicinal plants, towering trees, and the traditional knowledge local communities use to treat illness, build shelter, and survive in the jungle. This walk also offers chances to spot wildlife such as howler and capuchin monkeys, sloths resting high in the canopy, and additional bird species moving through the forest.

In the afternoon, we explore oxbow lakes and narrow jungle channels by boat, gliding quietly through calm waters surrounded by dense vegetation. These areas are rich in wildlife and provide a different perspective of the rainforest, with possible sightings of birds, reptiles, and river life.

After nightfall, we head out on a peaceful canoe ride beneath the stars, scanning the riverbanks for caimans and other nocturnal creatures. Moving silently through the darkness, this experience offers a calm and memorable way to observe the Amazon after sunset.

DAY 3 — Piranha Fishing & Return to Iquitos

After breakfast, we take part in the classic Amazon experience of piranha fishing. Guided by local knowledge, you’ll learn simple fishing techniques used in the region and gain insight into river ecology, fish behaviour, and the role these species play in daily Amazonian life. This relaxed, hands-on activity offers a final opportunity to engage directly with the river environment.

Following the activity, we return to the lodge for lunch and time to prepare for departure. In the early afternoon, we begin the journey back, travelling by boat through the river system to Nauta, then continuing by road to Iquitos. Along the way, there is time to reflect on the experience and take in the final views of the rainforest.

Arrival in Iquitos marks the end of service.
